Hyderabad: A retired government teacher was killed in an accident on the NH 44 at Medak district on Friday night when a private travels bus carrying a wedding party hit his two-wheeler.
More than 20 bus passengers received injuries when the bus driver in an attempt to avoid the bike rammed into the median and the bus overturned and fell off the road.
The bus was carrying 40 persons. All the injured persons were shifted to various hospitals at Hyderabad and they are said to be out of danger, police said. A case was registered against the bus driver for accidental death and causing injuries.
The bus was heading to Kamareddy and the accident occurred on the outskirts of Kalakal village. Police said the victim, U. Shankaraiah of Shankarampet(R) village, suddenly entered the highway to cross to the other side on his bike.
