Karnataka Assembly polls 2018: No polls, RR Nagar turns gloomy

The deferring of the polls has come as a shocker as it was announced a few hours before the commencement of the polls.

Bengaluru: Voters at Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency were visibly upset on Saturday as they could not exercise their franchise like rest of the city residents. The constituency is known as elitist and home to many celebrities.

The election to Rajarajeshwaringar was put off to May 28 by the Election Commission following the involvement of Congress MLA and candidate Munirathna in the infamous Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) scam.

What was disappointing for the electorate is that they could not take part in the electoral process. The deferring of the polls has come as a shocker as it was announced a few hours before the commencement of the polls.

Scores of voters had come from different parts of the state to cast their vote, but the postponement came as a dampener. Voters and residents of the constituency shouted slogans against Muniratna for his involvement in EPIC scam.

M. Muniraju, a voter of the constituency, said he had come all the way from Bhadravathi to cast his vote.
