Gajwel farmer tries to end life in CM's constituency over ORR land
Hyderabad: At a time when farmers across the state are celebrating TS Government’s prestigious programme for farmers Rythu Bandhu, one farmer belonging to Chief Minister’s Constituency Gajwel had attempted suicide due to fear of losing his very small agricultural land to the Gajwel Outer Ring Road. Kashamaina Narsimhulu, 35, had consumed poison near the land owned by his father Ramchandram on the Gajwel town outskirts, when officials had arrived to conduct a land survey for the ORR. He was immediately rushed to the Gajwel Government Hospital and later shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment. Siddipet Police have confirmed the suicide attempt and said an inquiry is being conducted to ascertain the details which forced him to take the extreme step.
Narsimhulu’s family belongs to Gajwel town and his father owned a piece of agricultural land on the outskirts on Gajwel to Sangapur road, which Narsimhulu was cultivating. The ORR sanctioned to Gajwel town a year ago will pass by the RDO office located on the same stretch, beside which is located their land.
From the time the project was announced, he was under fear of losing the land. On Saturday morning, when officials from revenue and other departments arrived near the land with earthmoving and heavy machinery, Narsimhulu found that they were conducting a survey of the land and immediately consumed pesticide on his field and collapsed. Fellow farmers and his mother who noticed him, rushed him to a nearby hospital.
“He had three daughters and if the land is gone, our family will be on the road,” said his mother. He has been admitted to a hospital in the city, where his condition is said to be critical. Though confirming the incident, Revenue and Police Officials from Siddipet refused to speak on the issue.
