AAP worker beaten up at KR Puram

The legal team further mentioned that Gupta gave a written complaint to KR Puram police station against Rakesh and 20 others.

Bengaluru: An Aam Admi Party (AAP) worker was manhandled by the Congress supporters in Meddahalli government school in KR Puram on Saturday while the polling was in progress.

According to the legal team from AAP, they said that Guptheshwar Sharma was volunteering for AAP and as the polling began, he set up the bench and chairs to write the voter’s slips.

This irked the Congress party workers, who had also set up their benches opposite to them. Rakesh, a Congress worker started arguing with Gupta and asked him to remove the bench and chairs, as he cannot sit opposite to the Congress bench.

But Gupta told him that anyone can sit anywhere and this angered Rakesh, who called few more supporters.

They threw water on Gupta’s face and started man handling him.

They also pushed and punched Gupta.

There were only a couple of policemen, who ran to Gupta’s rescue but they could not control the crowd and summoned the other policemen and guards who dispersed the crowd, added the legal team.

The legal team further mentioned that Gupta gave a written complaint to KR Puram police station against Rakesh and 20 others.

The police will have to consult the local magistrate and then register an FIR.

Lingaraj Urs, AAP candidate for KR Puram constituency said, “It is a democratic country and people behaving like this is not accepted and no wonder the constituency is in such bad shape. We will take up the case and ensure justice is awarded.”
