TTV Dhinakaran to be escorted to Egmore court
Chennai: The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (EO-II), Egmore ordered a prisoner’s transit warrant against AIADMK deputy general secretary
TTV Dhinakaran arrested by Delhi police recently, and directed the Enforcement Directorate to produce him before the court on June 8 for framing charges in connection with a Foreign Exchange Regulation Act case registered two decades ago.
The matter came up for hearing before judge S. Malarmathy on Friday. On April 19, the court framed charges against him on six counts under FERA as he was accused of transferring 1.04 crore US dollars to Dipper Investment through Barclay Bank. Next day, the court planned to frame charges against him in another FERA case registered for illegally routing 36.36 crore US dollars and 1 lakh pounds for starting a star hotel in the UK.
As Delhi police arrested him and detained him at Tihar prison, Delhi, in connection with an alleged attempt to bribe an Election Commission official, he had not appeared before the court for framing charges in the second FERA case registered against him by the ED.
Judge S. Malarmathy issued a PT warrant to enable the ED to produce him before the court on June 8and adjourned the matter to that date.
