Slab system likely on luxury house tax in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan said that the government would think of introducing a slab system for luxury tax on households.

The revenue minister was replying to a submission by N A Nellikkunnu in the assembly on Friday.

Mr N A Nellikkunnu who brought the issue to the notice of the house pointed out that it was unfair to charge the same luxury tax for a household of 3,000 square metres and 30,000 square metres.

SBI squeezing people: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said the SBI was squeezing people for money in order to overcome the loss it incurred due to unpaid loans taken by Corporates.

Mr Isaac while replying to a submission by A N Samseer said that following restrictions, people were hoarding notes and not remitting them in banks. This was the reason for the note shortage, despite the RBI printing new notes every month,” said Isaac.

MGNREGA arrears: Local Self Government Minister K T Jaleel said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had agreed to take up with Prime minister Narendra Modi the hardships faced by workers because of the non-clearance of the Rs 636 crore arrears towards payment of wages under MGNREGA .
