Parents wait in hot sun at many centres

Many parents wanted designated spots for them to wait while their children wrote the exam.

Hyderabad: Parents of students who took the Eamcet on Friday were in for a hot time. At many centres, they were not allowed into the compound and had to scramble for cover in the hot sun.

Many parents wanted designated spots for them to wait while their children wrote the exam. Many students reached even before the centres opened, and were allowed inside one ahead before the start of the exam. That only increased the wait for the parents outside.

Mr Gangadhar Babu, 42, who came to drop his daughter for the afternoon sessions said, “The government should have arranged more centres and finished the agricultural and pharmacy test also in morning as it is difficult for the students to commute and wait at the examination centres in the hot sun.”

Ms Padama Iyenger, who had come from Kurnool, said they had gone to the centre directly. “Parents are not allowed in the campus. Where should we wait in this heat,” she said.
