Chennai: Phone bookings to continue for metro water tankers
Chennai: After DC highlighted poor connectivity of the metro water’s centralized booking system online, the department has issued a statement maintaining that the old method of booking over telephone by calling the area offices would also continue.
After the Chennai Metro Water introduced the centralised and online mode of booking water tankers, city residents faced the inconvenience as the server (www.chennaimetrowater.com) was non responsive. Adding to their plight, the centralised booking number (044-45674567) was also not user friendly.
Meanwhile, the old system of booking water tankers by calling filling points had also hung in balance, as area engineers took the excuse of the newly introduced system.
However, after the article was published in this daily, residents in Ullagaram had questioned the local metro water office by showing the clippings of the newspaper. The clipping has the senior metro water officials stating that the old method of booking is not stopped.
Confirming the same, Chennai metro water has issued a statement stating that ‘the existing system of booking over phone to the filling stations will continue in view of heavy demand from residents.’
