AP gets Rs 1800 crore investment in tourism projects in one year

The overwhelming response received from various investors proves that the state is investment friendly and has got scope for development.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government on Friday said it has received tourism projects worth Rs 1,800 crore in one year through private investments on which construction has already commenced.

"Our state has received investment in tourism projects worth Rs 1,800 crore in one year. All realised through private investments currently more than 160 such projects are underway in the state. In its bid to facilitate the infrastructural development, the state has also stepped up its activities with the accomplishment of over 90 government initiated projects during the same period with a value of more than Rs 190 crore," Tourism and Culture Principal Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad said.

Targeting a holistic tourism development, Andhra Pradesh has also received investments in a plethora of water and adventure sports for example jeep parasailing, jet-skiing, speed boats and other water sport activities in Vishakhapatnam, amphibious vehicle in Rajahmundry and Vijayawada, sea plane in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Vijayawada, waterfall rappelling, rock climbing in Chittoor among others.

Prasad said, "The overwhelming response received from the various investors, stands testimony to our sustained efforts to establish the state as an investment friendly destination. It also validates our belief that when it comes to tourism potential, sky is the limit for Andhra Pradesh."

With a bid to augment MICE tourism in the state, 3-star properties with convention facilities are coming up in Vishakhapatnam, Chittoor and Vijayawada.

Overall the state has seen investments from 29 hotels between 3 to 5-star categories, spread across the five tourist hubs of Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Amaravati - Vijayawada, Tirupati - Nellore and Ananthapuramu, Kurnool – Kadapa.
