Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan seeks time on AOC roads
Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Thursday met Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar in Delhi and reportedly sought extension of the deadline put up by the defence ministry to close the AOC roads.
Sources said Mr Narasimhan briefed the minister on the problems going to be faced by lakhs of commuters in and around the Secunderabad Cantonment area if the scheduled deadline for closure of some of the important roads comes into being after May 31.
He told the minister that he has received several representations from the public and suggested extension of the deadline till alternative roads and routes are readied by the GHMC.
Later the Governor met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office in Parliament House and was closetted with him for 45 minutes. Mr Narasimhan did not disclose what transpired at the meeting, and only said he had discussed routine issues. He refused to answer when the media questioned him on the ongoing defections of legislators, encouraged by ruling parties, in both Telangana and AP.
