Hyderabad: The CBI on Thursday informed the Telangana High Court that persons who have no locus standi and no relations with the family are purposely filing the frivolous petitions in relation to the ongoing investigation into the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
CBI counsel N. Nagendhar submitted his counter arguments to the petitions filed by Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and M.V. Krishna Reddy, who challenged the anticipatory bail granted to Shaik Dastagiri, fourth accused in the FIR. They also challenged the lower court's approval to turn Dastagiri into an approver.
The CBI counsel pointed out that the Supreme Court has clearly mentioned that any contentions by any party can be put before the trial court. But, here the petitioners, who have no locus standi, challenged the bail granted to Dastagiri only to delay the investigation process in the said case.
Meanwhile, the High Court asked the CBI Counsel about the time it would take to complete the investigation in the murder case and why it had not done so even after two years.
The counsel said that the Supreme Court has set a April 30 deadline and the investigation team is working towards this.
The court adjourned the case to April 17 for the arguments of T. Swetcha, counsel for N. Sunitha Reddy, daughter of the deceased.
