Poll panel’s SMS campaign misses the mark by a day

Several voters in the capital, Khammam, Warangal, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Karimnagar received the messages a day after polls.

Hyderabad: The State Election Commission has once again missed the mark. The SEC’s SMS campaign meant to be delivered on Thursday to encourage voters to go to the polling booths reached more than 60 per cent of voters across the state only on Friday.

Several voters residing in the twin cities, Khammam, Warangal, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Karimnagar received the text messages from the Election Commission asking them to vote on April 11, on Friday. A few voters commented that this shows how the Election Commission works.

Responding to a question on the delayed SMS, an EC official said the Election Commission had planned the SMS campaign in two phases from April 9 and it was delayed due to a technical snag.
