Naxal attack political plot, CBI should probe it: Amit Shah
Rajnandgaon: BJP national president Amit Shah on Friday smelt a political conspiracy in the killing of party’s MLA Bheema Mandavi in Shyamgiri in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Dantewada by Maoists on April 9 and demanded a CBI probe into it.
Addressing an election meeting at Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh, Mr Shah said that the sequence of events leading to killing of the Dantewada MLA has raised suspicion that it might be a political conspiracy to eliminate the lone party MLA of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region.
A CBI probe would alone unearth the conspiracy, he said.
He called upon Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel to order a CBI probe into the incident and wondered why the state government was reluctant to hand over the investigation to CBI if there was nothing to hide in the incident.
Mr Shah further said the slain MLA’s widow has also demanded CBI probe into her husband’s killing by Maoists.
Mandavi along with four jawans were killed when the bullet-proof SUV in which they were travelling was blown up in a Maoist Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Shyamgiri in Dantewada district on April 9.
The incident took place barely 48 hours before Bastar (ST) Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the first phase parliamentary elections in Chhattisgarh.
He was on his way to Nakulnar in the district after attending a tribal fair at Shyamgiri when the incident took place.
Former chief minister and BJP national vice-president Raman Singh too suspected a political conspiracy in the incident and demanded a CBI probe into it.
