Kochi: General council decided it, not me, asserts vice-chancellor

The meeting is now scheduled for April 27 as university officials are on election duty, he added.

Kochi: KUFOS vice-chancellor Dr. A Ramachandran has denied the charges that he was instrumental in enhancing the retirement age of registrar Dr Victor George. The governing council of the university passed a special resolution enhancing the retirement and the vice-chancellor has no role in the decision, he said.

Dr. Ramachandran said that he had entrusted the charge of the registrar to the finance officer after the chancellor declined to approve the resolution of the governing council. “But the person concerned has approached the court and the matter is under the consideration of the court,” he said. The court has also given an option for the general council to examine the matter further. “Although I have convened a meeting of the general council on April 8, the same could not be held due to lack of quorum,” Dr Ramachandran said. The meeting is now scheduled for April 27 as university officials are on election duty, he added.
