IT raid on temple, priest’s house at H.D. Deve Gowda’s native village?
Hassan: Income Tax officials allegedly swooped down on a Lord Shiva temple at Hardanahalli, the native place of former PM H.D. Deve Gowda with a six-member team searching the temple premises and the house of the temple priest on Friday. However, they had to return empty handed. The raid has, however, been denied by the I-T Department.
The search conducted on the temple assumes significance because Mr Deve Gowda and his family members often visit the shrine to perform puja. The house of temple priest Prakash Bhat located at Hardanahalli also came under the scanner with the search by the IT team happening at around 12.30 pm. The IT raid at Hardanahalli comes close on the heels of the IT search on multiple locations in Hassan a couple of days back.
The IT officials had then searched the office of the PWD at Hassan and its Executive Engineer C.S. Manju was subjected to questioning. Besides, the premises of some PWD contractors allegedly having close links with JD(S) leader and PWD Minister H.D. Revanna were searched by the IT team.
