Land acquisition will continue, says CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Mr Vijayan alleged that those responsible for reporting worthy matters were not doing it and projecting only the negatives.

KASARGOD: Land acquisition for the national highway widening will be continued in spite of the agitations at Keezhattoor and Malappuram areas, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. "The government cannot backtrack on the projects considering the development needs of the state. The people might feel bitter initially, but that will turn sweet later," he said after inaugurating the Karaduka block panchayat building here on Thursday.

"The road development is for the people. Nobody has excess land. The government will judiciously use the acquired land for development activities," he said. Indirectly blaming the media, Mr Vijayan alleged that those responsible for reporting worthy matters were not doing it and projecting only the negatives. "Private persons had given land free for building the block panchayat office. But how many knew about it," he asked.
