Hyderabad: Uber to make movement better

Uber Movement roll out in India is part of the second phase of the feature's global expansion.

Hyderabad: Uber is going to use anonymised data from millions of trips to help urban planners redefine the urban mobility landscape in their cities using its tool ‘Movement’. This tool will provide aggregated and anonymised data from millions of trips in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai to support urban planning and data-driven policymaking.

It is aimed at providing traffic-based data to improve travel experiences for riders and help civic authorities improve roads, manage transit lines, and manage peak hour rush better.

“Everyday, millions of Indians use Uber to get around their cities - whether it is to get to their nearest railway or metro station, return home from work or for point to point connectivity. By developing comprehensive data maps and grids for each of the four Indian cities and cross tabulating the insights from millions of Uber trips, some fascinating data about how cities move at different times of the day, week and year have been aggregated,” said Uber in its statement.

Uber Movement roll out in India is part of the second phase of the feature’s global expansion. Other citi-es connected to Uber Movement are Ams-terdam, Brisbane, Cairo, Melbourne, Nairobi and Perth.
