CM Yogi Adityanath offers special puja at Datia
Bhopal: Amid an outcry over the alleged Unnao rape case involving his party MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday visited the famed Peetambara Peeth in Datia in Madhya Pradesh to pay obeisance to its presiding deity Raj Satta Devi Bagalmukhi, known to protect her devotees from any kind of trouble. Mr Adityanath, accompanied by his ministerial colleagues Mahendra Pratap Singh and Swatantra Dev, landed in Datia by the state plane from Lucknow in the morning and proceeded to Peetambara Peeth to perform puja before the deity.
“The UP chief minister spent nearly half-an-hour in the shrine,” Datia district superintendent of police Mayank Awasthi told this newspaper. Mr Adityanath flew to Lalithpur in Uttar Pradesh after performing ‘puja’ in the temple. A staff member of the temple management said a team of senior priests were arranged to perform the special puja for the UP chief minister. The deity established in the Tapasthali, the place of meditation by a 'mysterious saint', Swamiji Maharaj, in 1933, has drawn many politicians across the country.
