Notice issued against Subhash Chandra, Birender Singh against use of pen in RS polls

The petitioner claimed that the official pen was removed in a secret and dishonest manner in an effort to sabotage the elections.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a notice to businessman and chairman of Zee Media Subhash Chandra and Birender Singh in connection with a plea filed by senior Supreme Court advocate R.K. Anand regarding the use of pen in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Anand claimed that the official pen was removed from the polling area in a secret and dishonest manner in an effort to sabotage the elections.

On March 23, the Punjab High Court dismissed a petition challenging media baron Subhash Chandra's election as a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Last year, Chandra won the Rajya Sabha election from Haryana as an Independent candidate supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
