Hyderabad High Court told varsity to release salaries of employees

The bench said that it would be unfair to call them to Hyderabad from Wanaparthy daily only for affixing of their signatures.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Konda Lakshman Bapuji Horticulture University to pay two employees of its horticulture college at Wanaparthy in Mahbubnagar their salaries.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter was dealing with a petition by V.V. Padmaja and another, challenging the failure of the varsity to pay salaries to them for the last three months.

When the issue of division of employees of YSR Horticulture University in AP and Konda Lakshman Bapuji Horticulture came up before the High Court after bifurcation, the HC had directed both the varsities to pay salaries at the ratio of 58:42.

G. Vidya Sagar, senior counsel appearing for the TS varsity, told the court that of the 33 AP-origin employees, six have not been reporting to work, which is a mandatory requirement for claiming salaries.

Counsel for petitioners said that both petitioners were stationed at Wanaparthy and authorities were asking them to come to Hyderabad only to sign the register.

The bench said that it would be unfair to call them to Hyderabad from Wanaparthy daily only for affixing of their signatures.

While directing the varsity to pay salary to the petitioners, the bench adjourned the case.
