Did Hyderabad doctors turn away India\'s first coronavirus fatality?
Bengaluru: The Congress MLA from Chittapura constituency in Karnataka, Priyank Kharge said the death of a coronavirus-positive man from Kalaburagi due to medical negligence on the part of private hospitals in Hyderabad.
"Once the coronavirus-infected person landed in Hyderabad for treatment, he didn't get treatment and (was) asked to go another hospital. He was taken to four or five hospitals in Hyderabad before being admitted to a private hospital," Priyank Kharge alleged.
“Instead of treating him, the doctor forcibly asked him to move to another hospital. (It is) due to the lack of medical attention on the part of doctors and state government that he died,” Kharge said in the Karnataka Assembly.
Health and family welfare minister B Sreeramalu said he was not aware that the deceased person did not get proper medical attention in Hyderabad. “However,” he said, “the state government is in constant touch with Union Health Ministry.”
“The deceased person’s dead body was received at the Karnataka border and his burial was conducted in accordance with guidelines of the Centre,” he added.
