PJ Joseph has limited options to revolt

Mr Joseph believes that the opposition from the lower strata of the party against him was orchestrated by Mr Jose K. Mani.

Kottayam: Kerala Congress (M) working chairman P.J. Joseph, who has been treated shabbily by chairman K.M. Mani and his son Jose K. Mani MP, is in no position to raise the banner of revolt against them due to the feeble organisational support he has.

He along with Mr Mons Joseph, the only MLA backing him, cannot hope to break up the party as they may invite the provisions of ant-defection law and disqualification as MLAs. A two-third majority of members is needed to escape it.

Mr Joseph believes that the opposition from the lower strata of the party against him was orchestrated by Mr Jose K. Mani.

According to sources, Mr Joseph had earlier secured an assurance from the Congress leaders about his candidature in Kottayam. But he was upstaged by Mr Jose Mani. Mr Joseph will hold discussions with the Congress and UDF leaders before deciding his future course of action, sources said.

A large number of people in Idukki district were aggrieved by the way Mr Joseph was sidelined by the KC(M).
