Hyderabad: 17-year-old student mowed down by speeding bus

The students were heading towards Madhapur to appear for the board examination when the incident happened.

Hyderabad: A 17-year-old intermediate student who was on his way to attend the examination at Madhapur was mowed down by a speeding RTC bus at Jubilee Hills on Tuesday. “The students were heading towards Madhapur to appear for the board examination when the incident happened,” said the Jubilee Hills police.

According to Jubilee Hills sub-inspector E. Shankar, the students Mohammed Shaheen Subhan, 17, and Syed Fouzan, 17, were studying in the first year intermediate in the MEC stream at Roots College in Somajiguda. Fouzan is a resident of Mehdipatnam and Subhan was living at Yousufguda.

The SI said, “The students had an examination at a college in Madhapur at 9 am. Fouzan took his bike from home and picked Subhan up from his place. They were on the way to Madhapur via the Jubilee Hills check-post.”

“Meanwhile, an RTC bus (AP 11 Z 6680) which was heading towards Allwyn Colony from Secunderabad. As the signal turned green, both the vehicles moved ahead and the front right tyre of the bus touched the bike from its left. Fouzan, Fouzan lost control and Subhan and he, both, fell off the bike. Subhan came under the rear tyres of the bus and died on the spot,” said SI Shankar.

The SI said that the duo was not wearing headgear when the accident took place. Fouzan was immediately rushed to the hospital. The bus driver is booked under Section 304 A of the IPC, following a complaint from the family members of the deceased.
