GHMC on bid to better voter turnout this polls

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and district election officer M. Dana Kishore on Tuesday said that the civic body would conduct extensive awareness campaigns to enhance voting percentage in the city. He asked officials to take stock of the Lok Sabha poll preparedness while holding a review meeting with political parties and the police.

Mr Kishore said that the corporation would form 92 electronic voting machine awareness teams to educate voters. He said political parties should only use eco-friendly campaign material as directed by the Election Commission of India.

Mr Kishore urged officials to ensure that the model code of conduct is adhered to and constituted 374 flying squads, 42 static surveillance teams, 42 video surveillance teams, 14 viewing teams and 14 accounts teams. He also made it clear that the corporation would receive claims and objections till March 15.

He appealed to political parties to verify the electoral lists which have been handed over to them. Mr Kishore said they could also check the voters’ list on the National Voter Services Portal and Telangana CEO websites.
