Komatireddy Venkat Reddy may be suspended for a year
Hyderabad: The TRS government is likely to take action against Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and some others for their unruly behaviour in the Legislative Assembly on Monday. The action may be along the lines of the Andhra Pradesh government suspending the YSR Congress MLA, R.K. Roja, from the House for a year. The matter came up for discussion in the business advisory committee (BAC) meeting and it was decided to give powers to the Speaker to take any action on this issue. Legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao said they were examining the CCTV footage of the proceedings and also enquiring what action was taken in neighbouring states when such incidents occurred.
Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary said the House will discuss the issue on Tuesday. The TRS government was considering whether to suspend the Congress members or to expel them from the House. The Assembly secretariat said that if a member is suspended from the House s/he can continue as an MLA. Sources said the TRS government was consulting legal experts on this issue. The worst incident on Monday was the headset thrown at the Governor while he was delivering his address to the House on Monday and which hit Council chairman Swamy Goud and injured his eye.
Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said that his party wanted to target Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan but unfortunately Legislat-ive Council chairman Swamy Goud got injured. Mr Komatireddy said he and another Congress MLA Sampath Kumar had jointly thrown the headphones. When Congress MLCs Mohammad Ali Shabbir and Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy went to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital to see Mr Goud, TRS workers obstructed them but later they allowed them inside. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and so-me ministers also visited Mr Goud in hospital.
