Centre rules out new rail zone for Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Union home Secretary Rajiv Gauba made it clear that AP would not be given a separate railway zone. He said that feasibility reports and the Railway Board were not in favour of the creation of a new railway zone for the state. So far, state BJP leaders have been saying that the Centre will grant AP a separate railway zone. He held a mee-ting with officials from AP and Telangana to discuss the Schedule XIII institutions listed in the AP Reorganization Act. He also told the AP officials that the construction of a new major port at Duggirajupatnam was not feasible. He asked them to suggest an alternate site for the port.
