Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police will be focusing on identified black spots in the city during the special drives that started on Friday night.
Special drives will be conducted in 85 accident prone areas.
Apart from drunk drivers the special drives will also focus on violations like no-helmets, no documents, pollution checks, as well as speeding.
To reduce road accidents at night in the city, the traffic police is focusing on 85 black spots in the city like Tirumulgherry X Roads, BRO Junction, Lal Bazaar Junction, Lothukunta Secuderabad, Dairy Farm X Roads, Old Bowenpally Check Post, Market Yard and Diamond Point in Secunderabad, Lalaguda, Habsiguda X Road Tarnaka, Jubilee Hills Road #45, Vengal Rao Park, Road #1 in Banjara Hills, Bapughat etc.
As motorists have an impression that no traffic cops will be on duty at night they violate traffic rules.
The traffic police is concentrating on special drives conducted at night. 25 teams will be deployed in different areas and each team will have around 10 traffic cops. This special drive will be conducted anywhere between 8 pm and 2 am.
Traffic DCP Ranganath said, “To reduce road accidents at night we are planning regular special drives at the city's black spots. We have identified 85 spots in the city, and are deploying 25 teams. Each team will have around 10 traffic cops.”
