Wild boar attacks farmer in Coimbatore

The farmer shouted in panic, even as the boar bit him in several places, police said.

Coimbatore: A 70-year-old farmer was attacked by wild boar in a farmland near Kurubapalayam in Coimbatore on Saturday.

Pattiyappan was working in a farmland at Vedapatty, but had failed to notice a wild boar feeding its newborn in the vicinity.

Suddenly, the female wild boar charged from behind and knocked down Pattiyappan. The farmer shouted in panic, even as the boar bit him in several places, police said.

Farmers working in nearby fields came running and rescued him from the wild boar. Pattiyappan was taken to the Coimbatore GH where doctors admitted him as an in-patient and have begun treating him.
