Moradabad: BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Sunday escaped unhurt after a makeshift stage, overcrowded with his supporters, collapsed at a party function in Moradabad.
Gandhi, who was on his way to interact with farmers in Chhajlet, had made a brief halt at Peeli Kothi Chowk on the Moradabad-Haridwar Highway, where local MP Sarvesh Kumar had organised a welcome ceremony.
The Sultanpur MP, who turned 36 today, was sharing the dais with Kumar and Moradabad Mayor Veena Agarwal when the incident occurred.
