Kerala: Job fraudster held from hideout

Used to avail loans from salary accounts after recruiting people.

Kochi: One person was arrested on Saturday for allegedly recruiting several youths from the state for employment in his company in Qatar and availing of loans using their salary accounts.

Ishaq Ismail, 27, a native of Mathilakam in Thrissur, was nabbed from a hideout in Perinjanam after the High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea. The accused was booked for criminal misappropriation and cheating while charges are also pending against Ismayil Chulliparambil Bava, his father, currently serving a jail term in Doha in connection with another cheating case.

The accused allegedly recruited nine youths, promising jobs in his company Terra Homes Trading and Contracting, Qatar, and opened salary accounts in their names upon their arrival.

“He availed of credit cards in the name of the employees and took bank loans worth several lakhs of Qatari Riyal besides buying four vehicles. The amount was then transferred from their accounts to the company account. This even as the employees were directly given their salaries,” police said.

The fraud came to light when Vysakh Mohan, a native of Eloor and one of the victims, approached the NRI cell of the Kerala police seeking action against Ismayil.

Five of the recruited candidates -- Shefeeq Vilayattu, Muhammad Kasim, Noufal Kochaluparambil, Alisha Pulikkal and Ashraf Parayil -- are still unable to leave the country owing to the huge debts against their names.
