Heat will take toll on candidates: A K Antony
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader A. K. Antony is keeping mum on the disputes in the party and the UDF over seat-sharing, though he has been trying to solve the problems through his meetings with the party leaders. He said that there was enough time to sort out the issues with over two months remaining for the elections.
He had attended the UDF meeting the other day which failed to decide on the seats of Congress, KC (M), KC (J) and CMP. But he agreed that the rising summer heat may pose a problem for the candidates. “It is both good and bad,” he said referring to the long campaign period.
Mr Antony, who had come here on Wednesday to file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections, has been meeting Congress leaders at the KPCC office on almost all the days. He will attend the KPCC office-bearers’ meeting on Tuesday which will discuss the Congress candidates’ list.
Already Youth Congress leaders have protested against fielding veteran leaders again in the elections. Mr Antony has been in favour of giving a chance to the YC leaders.
