Nurse’s kin thrash abusive doctor
Nellore: The relatives of a nurse thrashed a medical officer at the Community Health Centre at Udayagiri after they came to know that he attempted to rape her late on Tuesday night.
Incidentally, the medical officer, identified as Dr Ravindranath Tagore, was booked for misbehaving with a patient when he was working in Podalakur in the past, Udayagiri circle inspector U. Sathyanarayana said.
He said that a case under Section 376 read with 511 of the IPC would be booked against the medical officer and he would be produced in court on Thursday. According to the circle inspector, the accused called the nurse and asked her to bring him an omelette from her home around 8.30 pm on Tuesday night. He allegedly insisted that she herself come to the health centre when the nurse asked him to send a ward boy to collect the dish.
He allegedly bolted the door when she went into his room and made advances to her. Even when she protested saying that he was a father figure to her and resisted his attempts, he kept on insisting that she yield to him. She managed to leave the room when she got a phone call from her husband to whom she narrated the doctor’s attempt.
Her husband and relatives came to the hospital on Wednesday and gave a dressing down to the doctor after she denied his overtures. Based on a complaint from the woman, Police have booked a case and picked up Dr Ravindranath for questioning.
