Rajendran moves privilege notice against Renu Raj
Thiruvananthapuram: Devikulam MLA S. Rajendran on Tuesday submitted a notice for breach of privilege against Devikulam sub- collector Renu Raj alleging that she had insulted him. The notice is likely to be considered in the next session of the Assembly as the current session was adjourned sine die on Tuesday.
Mr Rajendran has been at loggerheads with Ms Renu Raj over the stoppage of the construction of the building of Mun-nar grama panchayat.
Earlier, while replying to questions, Revenue Minister E. Chandrase-kharan had supported the sub-collector saying that she had acted as per rules.
Speaker P. Sreerama-krishnan announced that he had dismissed the privilege notices against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the excise department.
The notice against Mr Pinarayi Vijayan was issued on the incident in which four Youth Cong-ress workers were hit and injured by his pilot vehicle at Bakery Junction here last month when they tried to block his car against the government stand on the Sabarimala issue. The notice was dismissed after the chief minister replied that the incident was an accident and not intentional.
The privilege notice against the excise department was that excise additional chief secretary Asha Thomas had given an open statement in response to the allegations levelled by Oppo-sition Leader Ramesh Chennithala on the brewery allocation scandal. After Ms Thomas replied that she had not issued such a press release, the speaker dismissed the privilege notice.
