GHMC's feed the need' programme receiving overwhelming response
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s ‘Feed the Need’ initiative has been receiving overwhelming response from all quarters. City hoteliers and others have come forward to contribute 40,000 meals on February 14.
With the aim of strengthening its drive to see that no person goes hungry in the city, the civic body has decided to invite NGOs to work on its ‘Feed the Need’ initiative.
GHMC is further eyeing February 14 for an official launch of the initiative across the city.
The spirit of Hyderabad was to feed the needy.
GHMC Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan, said while addressing a meeting with representatives of hotels, function halls, and NGOs in the GHMC head office, on Monday.
GHMC commissioner M Dana Kishore said that NGOs would distribute food packets at railway stations, bus stations, auto stands, night shelters, slums, major hospitals and other busy stretches across the city.
