Doctors plan Bengaluru-Nargund padayatra for Mahadayi farmers
Bengaluru: Close to 100 doctors will be participating in a padayatra from Bengaluru to Nargund on February 18 to show their support to farmers affected by the Mahadayi river water dispute with Goa.
In a letter to PM Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Dr H.N. Ravindra, President of the Indian Medical Association, Karnataka Branch, stressed the urgent need for leaders of political parties to pay heed to the issue.
“Please note that we require only 7.56 tmcft of water out of 200 tmcft flowing into the sea. I request your good self to convene an all-party meeting of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra and resolve the issue at the earliest,” reads the letter. No emergency service would be affected because of the walk by the doctors, informed IMA members.
