Chennai: Commuters find severed head thrown near bus stop

Chennai: People waiting at a bus stop near Kaatankulathur, 40 kms from the city, were in for a rude shock when they found the severed head of a man in a polythene bag near the bus stop. Police sources said that a few hours of ago, one of them noticed the polythene bag thrown from a car that passed by.

Police rushed to the scene on information and secured the severed head. It was concluded that the man was murdered only a few hours ago as even the blood hadn't dried completely. Police identified the murdered man as R Balaji (33) of Konagi village near Maraimalai Nagar. Balaji was a local rowdy and was an accused in the 2012 murder of a DMK functionary- B Ravi Prakash, then vice chairman of Chengalpet municipality. Ravi Prakash was murdered for revenge after his role in the murder of one Kumar of the AIADMK in 2007.

Police suspect the latest murder of Balaji is in a series of revenge murders in the locality. Police secured the torso later in the day from a vacant plot near Manimangalam.
