Kerala Law Academy wall on the government land demolished

AISF activists staged a march expressing solidarity with them.

Thiruvananthapuram: The revenue department on Sunday demolished a wall and a security cabin constructed by the Kerala Law Academy on the government land.

Though the management had on Saturday pulled down its main gate, they did not remove its arch and two pillars. As the revenue department's deadline ended, the concerned authorities swung into action.

A team led by Tahsildar reached the college premises at 10.30 am also removed security cabin and the pillars with a JCB. AISF activists staged a march expressing solidarity with them.

The officials said they would issue a notice to the management on Monday to vacate the hotel and cooperative bank on its premises.

Meanwhile, CPM central committee member and administrative reforms commission chair V. S. Achuthanandan unleashed an attack on the state government alleging serious lapses on its part in handling student strike there.

Mr Achuthanandan, who is in Abu Dhabi, said if the authorities failed to act, he would take legal steps. “It is the primary duty of the government to take over the land,” he told a televison channel.
