Siachen avalanche: Soldier's kin to get Rs 5 lakh compensation
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the kin of Sepoy Mustaq Ahmed, who was among the 10 Army personnel who were killed in a massive avalanche while posted in Siachen.
Mustaq hails from Parnepallu village in Kurnool district and is survived by wife and son. The Chief Minister has announced Rs five lakh compensation to his family of Sepoy Mustaq Ahmed, an official release said on Saturday.
In his condolence message, Naidu described Mustaq as a "great patriot and soldier who sacrificed his life for the nation".
Mustaq and nine others, died after getting buried under a mass of snow after being hit by an avalanche on February 3 at a high-altitude post on Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir.
