Officials all set to develop Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor

16,000 acre around Krishnapatnam port identified for industrial corridor.

Nellore: Revenue wing has identified 15,892 acres within 50 km radius to Krishna-patnam Port, which is one of the important nodes in Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC).

The strategy to develop the CBIC is part of the plan to achieve accelerated development and regional industry agglomeration in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

According to APIIC officials, the corridor betwe-en Chennai-Bengaluru-Chitradurga would have an Influence Area spread across the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The nodes include Krishnapatnam in Nellore district, Kaligiri in Chittoor district, Hindupur in Anantapur district of AP, Ponneri in Tiruvallur district and Hosur in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, Bidadi in Bengaluru rural district, Tumukur and Mulbagal of Kolar district in Karnataka.

Government of Andhra Pradesh has recommended for incorporating Naidupeta-Tirupati-Piler-Madanapalle in the alignment of the corridor since the area, being within the hinterland of Krishnapatnam, would facilitate the decongestion of the corridor through Krishnapatnam Port.

In this backdrop, the state government has proposed to acquire 16,000 acres for CBIC in Krishnapatnam region. Chief Secretary of AP himself has been reviewing the land acquisition process in frequent intervals in view of pressure from the Centre, APIIC officials said.

As of now 4,700 acre is available with Krishnap-atnam Port and 1500 acr-es with APIIC. The big ta-sk for the revenue officials is to procure nearly 4000 acres of patta land besides government land assigned to several people.

However one solace is that the new land acquisition policy will not apply for taking over the lands since industrial corridors are exempted from the policy.

The revenue wing on its part has completed the survey of the identified land on war footing and also categorised the land such as assigned, CJFS, government and patta land with a list of people cultivating them.

APICC officials said that they need anywhere between Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 1,200 crore to pay compensation for the acquisition of the proposed land and they are expecting the same from the Centre.
