Natak enthralls Adivasis at Nagoba Jatara
Adilabad: The Natak (skit) in Gondi folklore played on few scenes from Ramayan and Mahabharat enthralled the Adivasis in the absence of mainstream movies at Nagoba Jatara.
Many Adivasis especially youth were disappointed a lot as there was no touring cinema talkies at the Jatara this year as nobody came forward to screen general cinemas this time though ITDA publicity wing came forward to give permission.
Hundreds of Adivasis thronged the venue to watch Natak on Ramayan and Mahabharat.
The ITDA has not been given permission to set up touring talking at Nagoba Jatara for the last two years due to complaints that cinemas with vulgar scenes were screened at the Jatara in the past.
The typical dressing of the Adivasi youth who played roles in Natak was so attractive as they were natural and the “weapons” they used were made of wood and except two actors the remaining roles were wearing pants and shirts and wore black spectacles purchased in the Jatara.
However, the publicity wing of ITDA screened one –hour documentary on Adivasi legendary Komaram Bheem on 35 mm screen and also government schemes related to health, education and sanitation.
