Benagluru: Panel blames' Kodagu DC for Tipu Jayanti violence
Mysuru: The Kodagu police investigating the Madikeri violence during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, has partially held the deputy commissioner responsible as he failed to invite Kodagu SP to a meeting to discuss the preparations for celebrations.
Police sources said the deputy commissioner had also invited over 600 Muslims to the celebrations when such gatherings should be limited to 200 people.
Investigation has reportedly revealed that the violence began after a mob of Hindus stoned Muslims heading for the celebrations.
The Muslims retaliated and some of them targeted a man, Kuttappa, who fell from a height of 20 feet as he tried to escape.
The police have booked a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against nine people for his death.
