Ayush orders Anandaiah to stop giving Omicron doses

Ayush commissioner Colonel Ramulu clarified that the dept has not given Anandaiah any permission to prepare the concoction or distribute it

NELLORE: Ayush Department has served a notice on self-proclaimed herbal medicine expert Bonigi Anandaiah of Krishnapatnam village in SPSR Nellore district to immediately stop all his activities related to production, distribution and export of concoction for Covid or Omicron treatment. Ayush said otherwise, he will have to face consequences that could arise.

Ayush commissioner Colonel Ramulu clarified that the department has not given Anandaiah any permission to prepare the concoction or distribute it, though it has asked him to provide details of ingredients that he is using in preparation of his Covid concoction.

He maintained that advance permission is mandatory for production of any medicine as per Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940. But Anandaiah had not obtained any such permission nor submitted any application for permission. “Hence, he should not claim his concoction is Ayurveda preparation,” Col Ramulu observed.
He further asked Anandaiah to submit details of any clinical trials he has conducted, since such trials are mandatory for all Covid-related medicines as per rules of Government of India. Referring to Section 4 of Drugs and Magical Remedies Act 1954, he said it is wrong to misguide people through direct or indirect publicity that his concoction will weaken Omicron in 48 hours without providing any scientific evidence.

The Ayush commissioner declared that what Anandaiah is doing is against rules.
