Bengaluru: An attempt to threaten her parents, who scolded her for coming home late from college, turned fatal for an 18-year-old girl. She threatened to commit suicide by hanging and died after he plan went awry.

The incident took place in Byatarayanapura police station limits on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Keerthana, a second PU student at a private college on Mysuru Road. She was the daughter of Ramesh, a businessman.

According to the police, Keerthana used to come home late everyday from college. When she came late on Wednesday evening, her parents reportedly questioned her.

Upset over this, she took a saree and threatened her parents that she would hang herself. But they ignored her threat and to their shock when they went to her room again after 10-15 minutes, she was found hanging.

"Though they immediately brought her down and rushed to a nearby hospital, she was declared brought dead. We have registered an unnatural death case and are questioning the parents," the police added.
