KCR appeals to people not to visit him at hospital

Do not come to visit me for the next 10 days or so

Hyderabad: Former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday appealed to his well-wishers to refrain from trying to meet him at the hospital, where he is recuperating from a hip replacement surgery, and urged them to wait for him to recover after which he would be in their midst.

In a brief video message from his hospital bed, Rao thanked everyone who sought to check on him and said that the rush of visitors would result in inconvenience to hundreds of patients at the hospital, and expose them, and himself, to possible infections.

His message came after a few hundred people, including many women from Siddipet, reached the hospital on Tuesday and demanded that they be allowed to meet with him. They were stopped by security personnel.

Rao said, “The doctors have issued a serious warning that there is a chance for infection with many visitors and if that happens, I will be stuck here for months. Do not come to visit me for the next 10 days or so. The safety of other patients at the hospital is also important to us.”

Rao also said that the presence of a crowd of people was resulting in traffic snarls outside the hospital. “Please heed my appeal and I urge everyone to go back home safely,” he said.
