Visakhapatnam: Mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari adjourned the GVMC council meeting for five minutes following a fight between YSRC corporator Bipin Jain and TD deputy floor leader Gandham Srinu.
The two entered into a scuffle as Bipin Jain went to stop Gandham Srinu, who reached up to officials and protested over many items in the agenda “being read out consecutively and approved without discussion.”
Bipin Jain’s action was condemned by opposition corporators while Gandham Srinu suffered minor injuries. The scuffle took place when the resolution on widening of the road from Circuit House to Naoroji Road was read out.
JS corporator Murthy Yadav said there was no need for widening a 100-feet non-trafficked road. TD, JS and CPIM corporators went to the podium to support Gandham Srinu. As the bedlam could not be controlled, the house was adjourned.
TD deputy floor leader Gandham Srinivasa Rao told the media, "I questioned the ruling party on the wastage of crores of public money and they attacked me."
