No decision on Siddu, Gundurao likely now

Resignations pending as Cong busy with CAB, Jharkhand polls.

Bengaluru: With the Congress party facing elections in Jharkhand and busy dealing with the Citizenship(Amendment) Bill in parliament, the party top brass is not likely to devote much time to the resignation of CLP leader Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao from their posts following the bypoll debacle where the Congress could win only 2 of 15 seats.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader from New Delhi, said: “We have our hands full. With the CAB debate and the Jharkhand polls on, most top leaders are preoccupied with these issues. Besides, we are also occupied with building a sustainable anti-BJP model in Maharashtra. These are important things which deserve priority. If things change, it will be only after the three coalition partners in Maharashtra bring in a semblance of stability in that state and after the Congress puts up a good show in Jharkhand besides putting the BJP on the mat on issues like the CAB,” the source explained.

“The Congress does not take decisions in a hurry on such matters. We first allow a thought churning process to begin and these resignations have done exactly that. In all probability, Mr Siddaramaiah will retain one of the posts-either that of CLP leader or Leader of the Opposition. This is the thinking at present but no final decision has been taken yet,” the leader concluded.
