Four outgoing TRS ministers lose to rivals
Hyderabad: Four outgoing ministers of the TRS have lost to Opposition candidates, according to the results of the December 7 elections.
Tummala Nageswara Rao, who joined the TRS in 2015, lost to Kandala Upender Reddy (Congress) at Palair, where the ruling party is believed to be strong. The other main contestants were the CPM’s Battula Hymavathi and BJP.s Kondavalli Sridhar Reddy.
Mr Nageswara Rao had lost in 2014 as well. Later, he shifted his loyalty to the TRS and became a minister. He emerged victorious in the 2016 by-elections with a majority of 45,682 votes.
Mr Jupally Krishna Rao, another TRS leader and former minister was defeated by Congress candidate Mr B. Harshavardhan Reddy in Kollapur Assembly constituency. Mr Sudhakar Rao from the BJP and Mr Brahmaiah from the BLF registered a high vote percentage which hit the TRS and Congress leaders in Kollapur. Finally, Mr Harshavardhan Reddy won the tough election battle.
Former minister and TRS candidate Azmeera Chandulal who contested from Mulugu lost to Congress candidate Seethakka. The election result has shocked the leader and TRS activists. Besides Ms Seethakka, Mr Banoth Devilal (BJP) and Mr Narayana (BLF) registered a higher vote share which helped to defeat Mr Chandulal. The loss of the leader has left other TRS leaders stunned.
Former minister Patnam Mahender Reddy has been defeated by grand alliance candidate Rohith Reddy (Congress) in Tandur constituency, while his brother P. Narender Reddy who contested against Congress working president A. Revanth Reddy at Kodangal won the seat.
Meanwhile, RTC Chairman Somarapu Satyanarayana- RTC Chairman who had contested from Ramagundam lost to TRS rebel candidate Chander.
