Won't tolerate hurdles to Polavaram: Chandrababu Naidu
Rajahmundry: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced zero tolerance for hurdles in, or criticism of, the execution of the Polavaram irrigation project and cautioned the Opposition YSR Congress, Congress and the “so-called intellectuals” that they would be liable for public wrath. Mr Naidu inspected various components of the project during his visit to Polavaram in West Godavari district on Monday.
Referring to YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy finding fault with the state government for delays in executing the work, Mr Naidu asked whether he knew what was a pillar or a diaphragm wall of the project. Referring to another leader who claimed no work had been done at the project, he said that the diaphragm wall was being constructed underground at a depth of 100 metres and wondered how anyone could find it on the surface.
The CM said, “Though I have been supervising execution of several projects in my 40 years of experience, I myself find it difficult to understand various components of the Polavaram project. It is very unfortunate that the Opposition YSR Congress is misleading the Centre by giving false information on the project. I wonder any responsible party will do so if it is really interested to ensure execution of the project without any hurdle.” He repeated that it was his “life-time ambition” to complete the project by 2019. “It will serve as an asset to the young generation. The people have developed a sentiment towards the project and it is my responsibility to complete the execution of the project at any cost.
