Chennai/Mumbai: It’s official now. Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli and his long-time Bollywood girlfriend Anushka Sharma chose a quaint Italian resort in Tuscany, faraway from the media glare, to take their wedding vows on Monday. Only close relatives and friends witnessed the “wedding of the year” as the couple wanted their wedding to be a private affair.

“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love for ever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and wellwishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey,” the couple said in identical tweets while posting their wedding photographs and selfies. The ceremony was performed according to Hindu rites.
The bride looked resplendent in a pink Sabyasachi wedding lehenga, while the groom looked dapper in a colour-coordinated sherwani from the same designer. The newly-weds will travel to South Africa where Virat will start preparing for the upcoming series. Anushka will spend the New Year’s Eve with him and return in the first week of January.
