Telangana: Shop owners seek flyover from Trimulgherry not JBS
Hyderabad: With risk to many structures housing commercial spaces on the main road along the Rajiv Rahadari route, owing to the elevated corridor plan of the government, owners of properties along this route have suggested an alternative model to minimise the loss to civilian properties. They want the flyover to begin at Trimulgherry instead of JBS because 85 per cent of the properties on the less that three kilometre stretch between JBS and Trimulgherry is private, with much less Defence land, while from Trimulgherry onwards it is the opposite 80 to 90 per cent of the land belongs to the Defence authorities.
The existing road from JBS to Trimulgherry could be widened to a six-lane road with the starting point of the flyover at Trimulgherry. There are other advantages as well, says V. Amarnath, president of the Rajiv Rahadari Shop Owners’ Association. Traffic coming or going towards Bowenpally or ECIL and nearby areas could easily take a left or right turn after getting down from the flyover at Trimulgherry instead of travelling all the way to JBS.
The trading community also wants the government to revisit its plan of widening the road to 200 feet. “We welcome the government’s vision to ease traffic congestion by new initiatives. However, a 200 ft road increases the budget on construction and land acquisition. Widening the road to a six-lane road from JBS to Trimulgherry and then constructing the flyover in a 150-ft road should be ideal.
